The Bayeux Tapestry, sometimes referred to as Bayeaux,
is a world renowned piece that measures over
230 feet long and 20 inches wide.

The Bayeux Tapestry describes the Norman invasion of England and the events that led up to the Battle of Hastings in 1066.  Instead of being one whole piece, it is a series of tapestries that when placed in the correct order show the events in chronological order.  The sections of the Bayeux tapestry available from most online retail stores are as vibrant and exciting as the original work.

The Bayeux tapestry is usually categorized as as medieval, but its all encompassing nature makes it a piece worthy of consideration on its own.  There is so much history behind it and it was such as huge undertaking, it stands in a class and category of its own.

Hanging a section of the Bayeaux Tapestry in your home will add more than a gorgeous work of textile art, it will add a bit of history as well.  The tapestries are celebrated as some of the world's finest pieces.  Each piece opens us up to a view of history as it took place.

The Bayeaux Tapestry is a favorite piece for collectors of medieval tapestries.  The weaving found in the Bayeux tapestries from The Tapestry Standard is like a fine crafted work of art with the colors carefully selected and spooled onto the loom. They are excellent additions for your home decor.
